A shoe review is easiest to get wrong when every photograph is treated as one general impression. The safest HooBuy shoe QC checklist follows the physical logic of the pair: confirm that two matching shoes are present, inspect the parts that contact the ground, compare their structure, verify the visible size evidence, then decide whether the packaging supports or threatens the shipping plan.
The order matters. A close-up of neat stitching is irrelevant if the pair contains two different sizes. A readable size tag does not prove fit. A clean upper cannot reveal an outsole defect hidden by the display angle. Review each evidence category separately and record what the images cannot decide.
Stage 1: establish pair identity
Start with an image that shows both shoes together. Confirm left and right orientation, intended colorway, broad design, visible size context and expected included pieces. Look for obvious mismatches in panels, lace color, hardware, logo placement or sole color. If only one shoe is visible across the complete record, pair identity remains unresolved.
Match the photos to the order record before judging workmanship. The source option, warehouse item reference and visible label should describe the same requested variant. If the item identity is uncertain, pause the aesthetic review. Otherwise a careful defect decision may be attached to the wrong SKU.
Stage 2: inspect the outsole as a separate surface
An outsole view should show the full bottom of each shoe, not only an angled edge. Compare tread pattern, molded sections, size markings where present, glue overflow, cuts, dents, embedded debris and signs of contact. A small speck may be loose dust; a repeated break in the tread or deep cut is part of the surface. Preserve the original image before annotating it.
Check whether both outsoles are framed at similar distance and angle. Perspective can make one appear longer or narrower. If the question concerns a specific mark, a closer perpendicular view is more useful than several new beauty angles. Photos may show visible wear or contamination, but they cannot prove compound hardness, grip or durability.

Stage 3: compare shape with matched reference axes
Place the pair comparison on stable axes: heel centerline, outsole edge, toe center and collar opening. Compare the left and right shoes in the same frame before comparing them with seller images. Check toe-box height, lateral curve, heel lean, collar shape and whether one shoe appears twisted or collapsed.
Separate temporary packing deformation from fixed construction. Tissue, laces, camera angle and pressure during storage can change the visible silhouette. A possible shape issue becomes stronger when it appears from front, rear and side views despite matched positioning. One oblique photograph is not enough to measure symmetry.
Use the rear view carefully
A rear view can reveal heel alignment, seam centering and collar height, but only if both shoes stand on the same plane and the camera is near the pair center. If one shoe sits closer to the lens, apparent height differences are unreliable. Ask for corrected positioning when the decision depends on a few visible millimeters.
Stage 4: audit the size-tag chain
Read the visible size label on each shoe, then compare it with the ordered option and any box label shown. Record every displayed sizing system instead of translating one number from memory. A consistent chain is: order variant → left-shoe label → right-shoe label → packaging label. A break in that chain is a decision-relevant mismatch.
A correct tag proves only what the label states. It does not prove internal length, width, volume or personal fit. If fit risk is high, a measurement image must name its endpoints and show the tool clearly. Stage 5: scan construction without losing the pair comparison
Follow the same path around each shoe: toe, outer side, heel, inner side and tongue. Check visible seam continuity, panel edges, eyelets, lace hardware, glue residue, printing and exposed damage. Use matched views to distinguish a repeatable asymmetry from lighting or perspective.
Do not let one minor loose thread dominate the decision while a wrong size label or outsole cut is unresolved. Rank findings by consequence: identity or size mismatch first, structural-looking damage second, localized finish issues third, and purely photographic uncertainty last. Stage 6: treat packaging as a trade-off
Confirm what packaging is actually present: retail box, internal paper, inserts, spare components and any visible damage. A crushed box does not automatically prove the shoes are damaged, and an intact box does not prove they will remain protected during international handling. Inspect the shoes and packaging as separate evidence.
If removing a retail box is being considered, identify what protection it currently provides and what replacement would be needed. Structured or easily crushed shoes may depend more on internal support and controlled packing than soft footwear. Keeping a large box can increase parcel dimensions; removing it can reduce rigidity or collector value. Verify the current packaging actions, route constraints and packed result in the live account rather than assuming a service or saving.
Choose the smallest request that changes the decision

Worked decision: the leaning heel
Suppose the first rear image makes the right heel lean inward. The front image shows matching toe shape, both size labels match the order, and the outsole view shows no obvious twist. Before rejecting, check whether the shoes stand evenly and whether the camera is centered. Request one matched rear view on a flat plane.
If the lean disappears, classify the first impression as photographic ambiguity. If it remains across rear and side views with stable positioning, preserve both originals and treat it as a supported visible shape issue. This process does not predict comfort or durability; it improves the evidence behind the warehouse decision.
Final shoe approval record
Before approving shipment, write a short record: pair identity confirmed, outsole reviewed, shape comparison passed or limited, both size tags checked, visible construction issues listed, packaging state recorded and unresolved evidence named. “Looks good” is not an auditable outcome.
